CEDRAL® TOUCH UP PAINT

Cedral® touch up paint is a “quick correct’, acrylic based pigment used to cure any damage that might have occurred during Cedral® cladding installation. During cut, slight damage to the paint coating may occur, such as scratches or abrasions. In order to protect such defects in the coating, it is necessary to paint them (spot) with a special Cedral® mortar paint in the colour of the coating. Weatherboard Cedral® touch up paint is supplied in small 500ml cans. In fact, it is the most common paint for external cladding and is available in basically any colour you could probably imagine, therefore, we can be 100% sure that our touch up will reproduce the colour we want. 

WHY USING CEDRAL® TOUCH UP PAINT IS SO IMPORTANT?

Touch up paint is something that you need to put your attention to. If you follow the manufacturer's guidelines, you can be sure of your project's success. This paint protects boards in an appropriate way, so we can be sure that our facade will serve us for many years to come. As Cedral® assures, it will be 50 years!
Whether you want to renew or replace your cladding boards there are places where edges come visible. These are the places that cannot be distinguished by the colour. They need to be retouched in the surrounding colour.

HOW TO APPLY CEDRAL® TOUCH UP PAINT?

Thoroughly mix the can of paint to properly blend all the pigments and binders. Never thin the paint. To ensure a neat finish, load your brush with just enough paint to cover the touch-up area. Start in the middle of the touch-up spot and work your way out to the edges. Apply the paint as evenly as possible. Use light layers to evenly coat the scratch. Before you begin painting, the board needs to be free of dirt and other blemishes that can prevent the paint from adhering to the plank. Do not paint too far past the scratch you’re touching up. Test a small area for colour matching before proceeding.

Touch up paint is available in colours to match Cedral® weatherboards: White C01, Beige C02, Grey Brown C03, Dark Brown C04, Grey C05, Grey Green C06, Cream White C07, Sand Yellow C08, Blue Grey C10, Atlas Brown C14, Dark Grey C15, Slate Grey C18, Black C50, Silver Grey C51, Pearl C52, Pewter C54, Taupe C55, Sage Green C57, Forest Grey C60, Burnt Red C61, Violet Blue C62, Light Oak CL104, and Dark Oak CL105.

CAN YOU PAINT CEDRAL® CLADDING?

The manufacturer does not recommend using this paint for large-area applications. For instance, we can not use it in situations where we want to repaint either external or internal corners. It is recommended for small marks only. Cedral® planks should not require re-painting, however if you decide to change the Cedral® colour or repaint, planks can be overpainted. If required, it is recommended the use of a special, water based acrylic paint and primer. First thing first, you will need to lightly sand using a fine grit sandpaper. After sanding, wash down with a mild soapy detergent to ensure that they are dust free, clean, and dry prior to painting. It is also recommended that you paint two boards at a time working from top to bottom using either a brush or roller. 

DO I NEED JUST ONE TIN FOR THE HOLE CLADDING PROJECT?

In 95% cases yes, however if you are not careful during installation you may need to buy a second tin.
