INSULATION ALUMINIUM FOIL TAPE

Aluminium insulation board tape, often called 'celotex insulation tape' is a high tack, cold weather, bonding product made of aluminium with a self-adhesive coating designed to joint aluminium laminated mineral fibre insulation, PIR 'Celotex' insulation boards, heating systems, vapour control layer, damp proof membrane, fiberglass, duct boards, sheet metal ducts roofs, gutters, pipes or air ducts. Single sided thermal foil tape consists of an adhesive coated onto an aluminium foil. This insulation tape is also great for many repair jobs at home. It is heat resistant, age resistant, as well as water and oil resistant. In fact, using thermal waterproof tape is ideal for protecting, covering, insulating and repairing in combination with any metal surface. This masking material can only be used on dry clean surfaces. Tape has natural aluminium (silver) colour and comes in different widths 50mm, 75mm or 100mm. Aluminum foil is specified by thickness in microns and comes in a variety of thicknesses such as 30, 40 and 50 micron. It can be used for jobs regardless of temperature (-20°C). Being 45 or 50m long it can be applied either manually or with a dispenser cutter. Good quality insulation board tape should be at least 30 micron thick and have tensile strength of min. 45 N/25mm and be heat resistant to 180°C. To make it easier to understand, a human skin cell is 20-40 microns. Self-adhesive construction aluminium tape should be certified to the Class ‘O’ standard of fire resistance too. The tape is also available in the reinforced version called reinforced scrim duct tape.
