EXP 6 SEALING FOAM TAPE
EXP 6 is versatile, self adhesive foam tape that has a wide range of uses, but it is generally used for sealing construction joints (including moving joints) in areas such as: door & window installations, prefabricated concrete, skylights, cladding panels, curtain walling or modular construction. EXP 6 tape is a BBA approved and provides a permanently elastic weather seal to protect against wind driven rain to 600 Pa. It is pre-compressed and impregnated with a fire resistant polymeric dispersion. It is specially designed for joints in buildings up to 100 m high, in accordance with DIN 18055.
EXP 6 Expanding Foam Tape also fulfils the stringent requirements of the DIN 18542 edition 2009. In addition to providing protection against driving rain to a minimum of 600 Pa (equivalent to wind force 11 – Violent Storm). The vapour permeable joint sealing tape also possesses outstanding thermal and acoustic characteristics, as well as allowing for diurnal movement.
EXP 6 EXPANDING FOAM TAPE INSTALLATION
Using scissors remove the self adhesive strip, cut off and discard the deformed beginning of the tape, creating a square end. Peel back approximately 15cm of the release paper to expose the self adhesive side of the foam tape. When installing EXP 6 into the joint, fix the self adhesive side to the smoothest surface using a palette knife. Ensure you do not stretch the tape. Continue to unwind the tape from the roll peeling away the release liner as you do so until the joint is filled.
You must oversize the length of the tape in the joint by 1cm per metre to allow for any accidental stretching and also to ensure any blind ends are sealed correctly. Instantly apply the tape into the joint ensuring the visible edge of the tape is set back into the joint by at least 1 to 2mm. Once the tape is installed it will expand to fill the joint. Any unevenness along the joint will automatically be accommodated by the tape a s it self expands.
