Largely manufactured from recycled glass (e.g. windscreens) and mineral base materials such as sand and without the use of binding agents. The ingredients are melted into molten glass, which is cooled and crushed into a fine powder. The powdered glass is poured into molds and heated (below the melting point) in a "sintering" process that causes the particles to adhere to one another. Next, a small amount of finely ground carbon-black is added and the material is heated in a "cellulation" process. Here, the carbon reacts with oxygen, creating carbon dioxide, which creates the insulating bubbles in the (material). CO2 accounts for more than 99% of the gas in the cellular spaces.
Cellulose insulation is a material made from recycled newspaper. The paper is shredded and inorganic salts, such as boric acid, are added for resistance to fire, mould, insects and vermin. The insulation is installed either blown or damp-sprayed depending on application.
Wood fibre
The success of wood fibre insulation derives from an attractive environmental profile combined with a whole bag of functions including rigid insulation, sheathing and sarking for timber frames, roofs and flooring as well as flexible insulation for studs and rafters.
Wood of course is renewable, it sequesters carbon during its growth and product production is relatively free from pollution. The insulation value of wood fibre boards is not as dimensionally efficient as some of the orthodox petro-chemical materials - but it's no slouch either - typically coming in with a 'k value' range of between 0.038-0.043 W/mK depending on format.
Hemp
Hemp fibres are produced from hemp straw of the hemp plant. Most hemp is imported, but an increasing amount of home-grown crop is becoming available. Hemp grows up to a height of nearly 4 metres within a period of 100-120 days. Because the plants shade the soil, no chemical protection or toxic additives are required for hemp cultivation. The product is composed of, usually, 85% hemp fibre with the ballance made up of polyester binding and 3-5% soda added for fire proofing.
Straw
Straw is an agricultural by-product, the dry stalks of cereal plants, after the grain and chaff have been removed. Straw makes up about half of the yield of cereal crops such asbarley, oats, rice, rye and wheat.

Stylite T-Beam
SPI's expanded polystyrene Stylite T-Beam is a tailor made insulation void former, used in conjunction with pre-stressed concrete beams. The interlocking panels are quick and easy to install, resulting in a much faster installation process than conventional beam and block floor designs.
Stylite T-beam panels provide a highly efficient and cost effective method of insulation that exceeds the thermal requirements of part L building regulations. The polystyrene panels are profile cut, to suit any concrete beam design, ensuring a tight fit that greatly reduces cold bridging.

Bespoke UFH Panels
SPI's expanded polystyrene (EPS) Stylite floating underfloor heating panels are used to provide both insulation and underfloor heating to existing or new floors. Stylite UFH Routed insulation boards are a low profile EPS board that allow underfloor heating pipes to be laid directly into the insulation layer, with no need for fixings. They are available in a range of grades offering an excellent choice of thermal conductivity and compressive strength properties. Boards are available in standard layouts with varying pipe centres, crosses and returns. The grooves fit 16mm pipes but can also be routed at 18mm to accommodate spreader plates. Stylite UFH Routed Insulation Boards are manufactured to a standard size of 1200 x 1200mm, which are compatible with different pipe centres however we can cut boards to fit in between wooden floor joists.

Stylite PlusTherm
SPI Stylite Plustherm is expanded polystyrene (EPS) containing graphite, which considerably increases insulation performance.
The improved thermal performance of Plustherm (0.030 W/mk) allows for a 20% reduction in thickness against standard white EPS and is also a far more cost effective alternative to PIR/PU and extruded insulations.

Stylite Gridboard UFH
Stylite Gridboard UFH Insulation provides insulation and underfloor heating (UFH) in one simple solution. Provided in 2400 x 1200mm sheets with a laminate grid marking, it enables installations over large areas to be covered very quickly. Laminated to each board is a grid-patterned layer of split woven Polypropylene membrane, the grid provides a visual guide to assist in laying underfloor heating pipes. The grid system is laid out in increments of 50mm allowing for placement of different size pipe centres and pipes. The split woven membrane is also pull-out resistant to help keep pipe clips securely fixed to the boards. The membrane has an overhang on two sides so it can be sealed to ensure no ingress of screed between board joints.

Stylite Foil Faced Partial Fill Cavity Insulation Boards are manufactured from Plustherm Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) with a low emissivity foil bonded to the face, for use in masonry cavity walls. The foil helps to reflect any radiant energy into the cavity space, in the winter this reduces the cold and in summer it reflects the heat into the cavity to utilise the ventilated space into a more efficient part of the build-up. Stylite Foil-Faced Partial Fill Cavity Boards are designed to achieve a residual cavity of 50mm to meet NHBC guidelines for masonry wall cavities and can effectively meet and exceed all current building regulations and TFEE rates.

SPI Stylite EPS external wall insulation (EWI) boards can be used in conjunction with any render system supplied by providers across the UK. It provides an economical way of adding better thermal performance to properties without insulation in their cavities. EWI boards are available in Stylite Plustherm, for a better thermal performance at a reduced thickness & Stylite EPS 70E, standard white polystyrene. Both grades are of 'E' quality, and contain a fire retardant additive. The boards are available in a range of different sizes and edge details and are lightweight, easy to cut and handle and provide an excellent surface for all renders.

Loose Fill Cavity Wall Bead
Stylite Loose Fill Cavity Insulation is an injected blown bead insulation that is installed directly into a masonry wall cavity, perfect for new build and retrofit buildings. When injected the loose bead is mixed with a bonding agent that holds the beads together while not restricting the flow. The loose-fill EPS beads are extremely effective at filling the entire cavity for complete insulation coverage and protection against water ingress and condensation. The process of installation for injected blown bead cavity wall insulation is far more efficient than traditional cavity insulation boards. Whereas traditionally cavity boards would be installed alongside costly brick working, Stylite Injected blown bead insulation can be installed into finished walls. This dramatically decreases the cost and build time, an average-sized house can have blown bead insulation installed in a couple of hours.

Stylite Profiled Roof Insulation Boards can be used as part of a new build roofing system or as an overlay solution for existing roofs without incurring the high cost of re-roofing. Manufactured from high density Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) they are designed to match any profiled roof deck and fit tightly into the profile to eliminate air gaps and condensation and increase the thermal performance of the roof. The profiled insulation boards are designed to match and fit tightly with any profiled or corrugated sheet.

Rafter Insulation
Stylite Pitched Roof Insulation is a cost-effective way of insulating a pitched roof either in a new build or refurbishment application. Stylite Plustherm EPS has a low thermal conductivity of 0.030 W/mK and for extra thermal performance, full sheets can be used as an overlay prior to plasterboard being installed. Sheets are supplied in 2400x1200mm and can be cut easily with a hand saw to the exact width required between each roof truss.

Stylite Ventfill Passive Ventilation Insulation is a highly effective passive ventilation solution for ground gas affected sites. Stylite ClayCell Ground Heave Movement Protection is a cross pattern Expanded Polystyrene board with a corrugated Polypropylene board bonded to both sides with the availability for a bonded insulation board option.
