ACOUSTIC OVERLAY PANELS

Acoustic overlay also called chipboard dB panel is a compact T&G chipboard laminated to a resilient layer designed to be laid above a timber deck to reduce impact and airborne sound transmission. This ideal floating floor treatment significantly reduces the transmission of both airborne and impact sound. It is suitable for use with both concrete and timber floors, in either new construction or refurbishment projects. Good thing about overlay is that there is no need for separate resilient isolation layers. The product is already pre-bonded, ready to be used on site.

ACOUSTIC OVERLAY APPLICATION

Acoustic overlay can be used on an existing floor, new ply or chipboard floor or directly to concrete/screed floors making it an ideal product for refurbishments and new build projects. At the same time, the board meets and exceeds Part E of the building regulations. They are also ideal for use in loft conversions in accordance with Floor 4.d Type 2. Boards are quick and easy to install, offering savings in time and labour. Being applied to a concrete floor generally requires the addition of a damp-proof membrane.

JCW

JCW Acoustic Deck 19 is a slim line MDF based acoustic overlay board. It is an economical shallow platform floor system that offers excellent impact sound reduction for use with timber floor subfloors. JCW Acoustic overlay board is a low profile product which offers an increase in finished floor height of 19mm. This makes the acoustic deck the ideal solution where construction heights are an issue.

The phonodeck 24 dual layers comprise of a moisture resistant 18mm chipboard bonded p5 chipboard with a t&g profile and factory bonded to a 6mm recycled reconstituted chip foam impact layer that provides mechanical isolation from the existing sub-floor. Phonodeck 24 is 24mm thick and is designed to dampen vibration and attenuate both airborne sound and impact noise passing through floors whilst having minimal impact upon room height. OVERLAY BOARDS INSTALLATION

Installation should begin at the furthest point from the entrance, while the decking must follow a stretcher-bond pattern. The boards are pushed over the joints which have been treated with a proper adhesive added both on top of the tongue and bottom of the groove. It is advised that stud partitioning should be built from the sub floor and that flanking strips should be added for improved insulation performance of the walls and floors. Once the entire system has been installed, the boards should be protected from potential damage with a proper finish layer added on top. All skirting must be isolated from the floor surface and new ceiling boards installed prior to installing the system, in order of avoiding potential flanking transmission.
