Largely manufactured from recycled glass (e.g. windscreens) and mineral base materials such as sand and without the use of binding agents. The ingredients are melted into molten glass, which is cooled and crushed into a fine powder. The powdered glass is poured into molds and heated (below the melting point) in a "sintering" process that causes the particles to adhere to one another. Next, a small amount of finely ground carbon-black is added and the material is heated in a "cellulation" process. Here, the carbon reacts with oxygen, creating carbon dioxide, which creates the insulating bubbles in the (material). CO2 accounts for more than 99% of the gas in the cellular spaces.
Cellulose insulation is a material made from recycled newspaper. The paper is shredded and inorganic salts, such as boric acid, are added for resistance to fire, mould, insects and vermin. The insulation is installed either blown or damp-sprayed depending on application.
Wood fibre
The success of wood fibre insulation derives from an attractive environmental profile combined with a whole bag of functions including rigid insulation, sheathing and sarking for timber frames, roofs and flooring as well as flexible insulation for studs and rafters.
Wood of course is renewable, it sequesters carbon during its growth and product production is relatively free from pollution. The insulation value of wood fibre boards is not as dimensionally efficient as some of the orthodox petro-chemical materials - but it's no slouch either - typically coming in with a 'k value' range of between 0.038-0.043 W/mK depending on format.
Hemp
Hemp fibres are produced from hemp straw of the hemp plant. Most hemp is imported, but an increasing amount of home-grown crop is becoming available. Hemp grows up to a height of nearly 4 metres within a period of 100-120 days. Because the plants shade the soil, no chemical protection or toxic additives are required for hemp cultivation. The product is composed of, usually, 85% hemp fibre with the ballance made up of polyester binding and 3-5% soda added for fire proofing.
Straw
Straw is an agricultural by-product, the dry stalks of cereal plants, after the grain and chaff have been removed. Straw makes up about half of the yield of cereal crops such asbarley, oats, rice, rye and wheat.
Cedral® click cladding trims are aluminium engineered profiles shaped for the aesthetic finishing and are available as an internal or external corner, starter, connection, end, perforated closure and window lintel profiles. Using a combination of Cedral® aluminium profiles, you can be confident that your entire installation is strong and reliable. Our Cedral® colour matched trims including corners and edges, along with our Cedral® Click Clips and colour matched screws ensure your facade can be assembled quickly and correctly, creating a refined, premium finish. Being aluminium, they are water-resistant, long lasting and fairly easy to cut with metal blade equipped tools. Moreover, cladding trims prevent building or occupying a nest by the insects, birds or pests without reducing any of the airflow. Trims simply allow you to finish your cladding project seamlessly. Cladding trims are available in standard lengths 2500mm or 3000mm. Cladding trims are usually screwed with stainless steel screws, then covered with weatherboard planks to create an invisible connection. Aluminium oxidation makes Cedral® cladding trims chemically inert (corrosion-resistant). The only way to break down the aluminium oxide coating is a high level of pH. Typically, you should not use cladding aluminium trims in areas with low or very high pH. This gives the oxide coat enough time to regenerate in case of abrasion or any other mechanical damage. Even though aluminium has an impressive set of features, like every other metal it works best in a carefully selected environment that helps it function at its best. It does not rust but corrosion is imminent if the metal is not used in the right context.
TYPES OF CEDRAL® CLICK CLADDING TRIMS
For any wall cladding project, hiding the joins between two panels is a great way to ensure you achieve a professional, stylish finish. This is achieved using a range of finishing trims, for the right places and purposes. These trims will include:
CEDRAL® CLICK HORIZONTAL CLADDING STARTER PROFILE
Start profile (horizontal) is used to start a cladding run with a lip to cover the first battens. Installed horizontally at the bottom of the cladding, supports the boards and fits the T&G (tongue and groove) Cedral® System. Starter profile is 3000mm long and made from 0.9mm aluminium. Starter profiles are not colourised at all, they are a plain mill finish. Cedral Click starter trim should be installed horizontally before the boards are installed with the 40mm face situated behind the Click fibre-cement planks.
CEDRAL® CLICK VERTICAL CLADDING STARTER PROFILE
Start profile (vertical) is used to start a vertical cladding run. It can be screwed or nailed horizontally to the timber battens at the bottom of all Cedral Click Fibre-Cement Weatherboards. Cedral Click Vertical Starter Profile is laid vertically to provide support to the boards and fits the Cedral Click Tongue and Groove System. Should be installed horizontally at the bottom of the weatherboard cladding, when planks are laid vertically it provides support to them. Vertical starter profile must be installed before the boards are installed with the 34mm face sitting behind the click planks.
CEDRAL® CLICK CLADDING INTERNAL CORNER
Internal corners are designed to be installed at the interior corners of your building. The trims are manufactured to slot neatly into the corner with the two sides of the trim resting on the adjoining walls. Fibre cement wall cladding boards are then fitted on top of the flat sides of the trim using fibre cement screws. Installing these corners is the best way to ensure no leaks.
CEDRAL® CLICK CLADDING EXTERNAL CORNER
External corner is designed and manufactured from high quality colour matched aluminium, made for uprights of window and door reveals - 90 degree external corners. Should be installed on the uprights of windows and doors with a board then laid flat around the reveals. External corners should not be used above the head of the windows or doors-usually it would be Lintel Profile.
CEDRAL® CLICK CLADDING CONNECTION PROFILE
Connection profile is an universal end trim specifically designed to finish Cedral® when used as a single piece on a window reveal or soffit. It is also used to protect your edges from impact and keeps flush edges. Can be fitted vertically or horizontally. It is supplied in 3 metre lengths and manufactured using high quality 1050 grade aluminium.
CEDRAL® CLICK CLADDING PERFORATED CLOSURE
Perforated closure(insect mesh profile) is used to protect against pest infestation and debris. Made from aluminium and available in 2.5m length. Can be used to cap off battens at the top and bottom of all openings - for example above or below windows and doors. Trim also prevents building or occupying a nest by insects, birds or pests.
CEDRAL® CLICK CLADDING LINTEL PROFILE
Lintel profile is used to finish above the window and to support the next run of Cedral® Click. Lintel Profile must be installed before the boards are installed with the 54mm face sitting behind the boards. Installed horizontally above the door and window reveals - supports the boards and covers the T&G (tongue and groove) system.

HOW TO CUT ALUMINIUM CEDRAL® CLICK CLADDING TRIMS
Cutting any material requires the use of appropriate tools. The situation is no different in the case of aluminium. As you already know, there are various methods and equipment for cutting aluminium, which can be used by both DIY enthusiasts and professionals. The choice of technique depends mainly on the amount of metal to be cut as well as the precision required. Tools such as Tin-snips are not recommended to cut cladding trims as they do tend to deform the metal. Cladding trims being one of the lightest metals can and should be cut by using mitre saw equipped with special blades. If you don’t require a high degree of precision, but only want to cut the aluminium, handheld equipment will be sufficient. Angle grinders and jigsaws are most often used for this purpose, provided that a special cutting disc or blades designated for aluminium is used.
