POLYSTYRENE END CAPS | THERMO DOWEL CAP
Polystyrene end caps also called dowel thermo caps are used to secure the head of the pin of the thermal insulation fastening pin so that no thermal bridge is formed at its location. This prevents the formation of so-called "Ladybug effect", eliminating the formation of a trace appearing on the insulated wall as a result of condensation. The term "ladybug effect" is used when the insulated facade features a regular pattern of circular spots in a color that is contrasting to the color of the plaster - they are light on the dark, and darker on the light one. Stains appear in places where there is a thermal bridge. This is a typical error when pinning the insulation boards without a cap. Sometimes a 'ladybug' may appear and disappear. It is usually visible on new, clean facades in cool, humid weather, when the air temperature and its humidity are around the dew point. Using dowel caps you will stop this effect. It not only additionally insulates the wall in sensitive places, but also prevents the consequences of incorrect installation of fasteners in the insulation layer. Styrofoam plug matches the hole drilled by the cutter and allows you at same time to use connectors 10mm shorter compared to the connector without a disc. After their use, plugs approx. 1cm shorter are used and embedded into the polystyrene, and the discs are used to plug these recesses.
