Claymaster 300mm Pink Board is the original compressible fill expanded polystyrene material used to protect foundations against lateral heave, typically on the inside face of piled ground beams or deep trench fill foundations.

Shrinkable clays are soils containing a large proportion of mineral particles of less than 0.002mm in diameter that produce an extremely cohesive soil type when wet, but shrinks to a crumbly, crazed structure when dry.

The expansion and contraction process during wet and dry periods is known as ‘clay heave’ which can cause severe problems with foundations like exterior cracks, bouncing floors and expansion joint separation.

This pink board works by surrounding the pile cap with a layer of low density expanded polystyrene that reduces the pressure on the ground beams as the surrounding clay expands and contracts.

Claymaster Jablite is also called clay heave protection board, a moisture resistant void filling expanded polystyrene sheets developed to protect foundations from clay heave, shrinkage or soil movement.

Jablite Claymaster Sheet is a lightweight pink foam, easy to install and handle 8' x 4' board that provides protection against clay heave and foundation problems due to moisture movement.

Compressible Fill Claymaster sheets are laid in the bottom of the trenches to ensure that the full width of the trench is lined and that the claymaster sheets are butted tightly together.

In situations where the concrete piles stick out into the trench, the Claymaster sheets should be neatly cut to fit (if possible factory-cut edges can be used).

Using Claymaster you can avoid cracked walls, glass, tiles, distortion of the building door and window frames, and sloped uneven floors.

Claymaster Compressible Fill EPS Installation Guide:

 · For piled ground beams, Claymaster is generally only required on the inside face of external ground beams, as indicated in the NHBC guidelines.

 · Typically the material will be placed against the face of the beam after striking the formwork and prior to backfilling.

 · If a permanent formwork system is used to cast the beams then the formwork should be dimensioned such that the Claymaster will fit inside the former prior to pouring concrete.

 · For use in deep trench fill applications the excavation width should accommodate the width of the foundation and the thickness of the Claymaster required.

 · Care should be taken to ensure that the Claymaster is adequately supported so that it remains in the correct position during the placement of the concrete.

 · Typically, the excavation will be founded 500mm below the zone of influence, and the Claymaster installed in accordance with NHBC requirements, i.e. 500mm above the bottom of the trench and on the inside face of the excavation.

Claymaster Standards and Certification:

 · BBA Agrement Certificate.

 · Declaration of Performance.

 · ISO 9001 Certification.

INSTALLERS

No matter whether you choose a local installer or a national company, there’s a few tips to help you find the right installer for your home insulation improvements, such as asking for recommendations and making sure that they’re part of a certification scheme. This makes sure that they have the right skills and standards of workmanship to carry out the installation, and you can be sure that they know exactly what they are doing.

4 TIPS FOR CHOOSING THE BEST INSULATION INSTALLER

1. Thermal inspection picture in portfolio

It’s worth seeing a installer’s previous work. There’s no harm asking if you can see any properties nearby that they’ve installed insulation in. Best way would be to see Infrared Thermal Imaging Inspections. Thermal cameras spot small, but key changes in temperature in different areas of a house, identifying problematic areas that the human eye never could and some that a visual inspection could only hypothesize.

2. Reviews

Along with checking recommendations and previous work, finding reviews online can often be a great way to find out if they provide a good service or not. However, it’s best not to solely rely on reviews you may find or review websites, as there’s no controlling who writes them.

3. Compare prices

Comparing prices will also ensure companies can’t take advantage of you and give you a fair price.

4. Word of Mouth

The best way to find a great insulation installer is through recommendations. Make sure you ask friends and family. They will most likely give you their honest opinion and can tell you from first hand experience.

Whether you require a wall, cladding, external wall, loft or floor insulation fitted, you can find and hire your local insulation installers from popular UK web pages. A simple internet search will return thousands of potential installers near your area.
