Installation guidance for Magply Render Carrier Board applications:

 · Minimum 25mm batten fixed at maximum 600mm centres.

 · Fixings set at 300mm centres, guidance must be taken from the architect or engineer.

 · Minimum 25mm continuous cavity behind the board top to bottom finishing 150mm from ground level and 5mm from top soffit.

 · Boards should be mechanically fastened with stainless steel fixings minimum screw shank 3.5mm and minimum 38mm to 42mm length on 12mm.

 · Advice should be sought from architect or engineer as to screw spacings which are dependent on situation for wind uplift.

 · Boards should be staggered and always render on the course side of the board, a 4-5mm expansion gap to be left on all joints.

 · Always screw Magply at least 15mm in from the edge of the board.

 · A layer of DPC is recommended on the face of the batten behind the board.

 · Air flow should be specific around windows & doors.

 · Ensure the board is free from all debris and dry before applying render.

 · The final installation drawing should always come from your structural engineer or architect.

 · Most render manufacturers specify 12mm Board and maximum 600mm centres for battens, in areas of high wind uplift (costal areas) tighter spacings will be advised by the engineer.

 · If a primer is specified by the render Manufacturer it is the responsibility of the applicator to ensure it is correct and has been tested for use with Magply Board.

 · Under no circumstances should any PVA based product be used on Magply boards.

Painting Instructions for Magply Board:

 · All joints, screw heads, nail holes etc should first be filled using Magply Ready Mixed Filler Adhesive, which is left for 24hrs and sanded down flat.

 · First Coat, Magply is a high suction background so the first coat of multi surface is mixed with 25-30% water and allowed to dry.

INSTALLERS

No matter whether you choose a local installer or a national company, there’s a few tips to help you find the right installer for your home insulation improvements, such as asking for recommendations and making sure that they’re part of a certification scheme. This makes sure that they have the right skills and standards of workmanship to carry out the installation, and you can be sure that they know exactly what they are doing.

4 TIPS FOR CHOOSING THE BEST INSULATION INSTALLER

1. Thermal inspection picture in portfolio

It’s worth seeing a installer’s previous work. There’s no harm asking if you can see any properties nearby that they’ve installed insulation in. Best way would be to see Infrared Thermal Imaging Inspections. Thermal cameras spot small, but key changes in temperature in different areas of a house, identifying problematic areas that the human eye never could and some that a visual inspection could only hypothesize.

2. Reviews

Along with checking recommendations and previous work, finding reviews online can often be a great way to find out if they provide a good service or not. However, it’s best not to solely rely on reviews you may find or review websites, as there’s no controlling who writes them.

3. Compare prices

Comparing prices will also ensure companies can’t take advantage of you and give you a fair price.

4. Word of Mouth

The best way to find a great insulation installer is through recommendations. Make sure you ask friends and family. They will most likely give you their honest opinion and can tell you from first hand experience.

Whether you require a wall, cladding, external wall, loft or floor insulation fitted, you can find and hire your local insulation installers from popular UK web pages. A simple internet search will return thousands of potential installers near your area.
