Promat® with its Promatect L – 500 Calcium Silicate Board*

Calcium Silicate Board was invented in United States. Hovewer, the sheet performance is known throughout the world. Different technologies are employed in the production of calcium silicates which are known to result in different product characteristics. They are various calcium silicate board manufacturers on the market, the first thing for the users is to choose one that with good reputation. Promat® takes the trouble out of selecting the best calcium silicate board from your business. Promat® boards are most suitable for building applications to protect from fire. With a global list of suppliers, Promat® identifies the highest rated boards manufacturers for you get in touch with. Promat and its Promatect L500 calcium silicate board is simply a good choice.

First and foremost, let’s answer one of the more important questions.

What is what is Promatect L-500 – Calcium Silicate Board?

PROMATECT® L500 is a non combustible medium dense, mineral bonded steam hardened calcium silicate board, used for the construction of fire resistant ducts, cladding of sheet metal ducts and to provide fire rated cable and service enclosures. It has sanded front face and honeycomb pattern back face. This product that can withstand continuous operating temperature from 650C up to 900C.

What is it made of ?

Calcium silicate board is made from environmentally friendly materials.

The boards are manufactured from a homogeneous mixture Calcium silicate hydrates, cellulose fibres, glass fibres, quartz and mineral fillers.

Calcium Silicate Sheet is then cured by an autoclaving process whereby the ingredients are reacted together under heated steam and high pressure.

Calcium silicate minerals are calcium carbonate and silicon dioxide, which are processed at high temperature melting. It is fabricated in the process of pulping, molding, and curing reaction under the high temperature high pressure and saturated steam environment.

What it real colour of Promatect?

Promatect is off white in colour and has a smooth sanded surface on one face with a lightly honeycombed texture on the reverse face.

Promat Promatect against moisture?

Promat Promatect L500 is resistant to the effects of moisture and will not physically deteriorate when used in damp or humid conditions. Performance characteristics are not degraded by age or moisture, and while untreated surfaces will absorb water which can cause some loss of strength full strength is regained after drying. It will not encourage mould growth and is resistant to attack by insect. If exposed to moisture, the board will completely recover on drying out, with no permanent loss of strength.

What are they used for?

These good quality Calcium Silicate Boards are most suitable for Insulation, Building Fire Protection, Wall insulation, Partitions, Roof Insulation and Fire Resistant door manufacturing.

Reactivity in case of fire

The product is non-combustible. It is a Class 0 product as defined in the Building Regulations. In the event of a fire, the board will not burn or produce toxic smoke..
Its intended use is to protect building elements against fire.

Calcium Silicate Board Thermal Conductivity

Silicate board is excellent in thermal insulation, research shows that the heat conductivity coefficient is 0.11, and the insulation property is five times higher than that of the glass, three times that of the fireclay, and ten times that of the ordinary concrete.

What is the thermal conductivity?

Thermal conductivity at 20C is 0.09 w/mK

Is it dimensional stable?

Promat L500 is dimensionally stable according to  EAD 350142-00-1106. The synthetic cement silicate binder provides exceptional dimensional stability and an unrivalled resistance to movement due to effects of moisture or heat. If exposed to moisture, the board will completely recover on drying out, with no permanent loss of strength

Durability?

Calcium Silicate boards will not degrade with time and within normal applications, the life of the product is limited only by the durability of the supporting structure and materials used in fastening. Calcium Silicate Board will not rot or support fungal growth and is unaffected by sunlight or steam. The product performances confirm a working life of at least 25 years for the intended use Z2 (internal use), Z1 (internal use in high humidity conditions).

What is the Compressive Strength?

Compressive strength is 5.5 N/mm².

Tensile Strength Longitudinal is 1.2 N/mm².

Flexural Strength Longitudinal is 3 N/mm²

Workability?

It is easy to install, it is simple to cut and  drill
