50mm Heavy Duty Base Track PPC is a starter profile for External Wall Insulation (EWI) systems and thin coat rendering made from polyester powder coated Galvanised Steel which is less expensive than stainless steel.
It is used in insulated render systems as a cover for the lower part of the thermal insulation boards (Expanded Polystyrene Grey and White (EPS), Kingspan K5 or Mineral Wool) against mechanical damage, abrasion, corrosion and pests.
Heavy Duty Starter Bead is a box shaped profile designed for various thicknesses of insulating panels (from 10mm up to 240mm) that provides a protective layer against the combination of moisture and oxygen.
This bottom bead is a 2500mm long profile made from 0.85mm thick polyester powder coated galvanised steel to meet the recommendations of insulated render systems manufacturers.
Polyester powder coating is a robust alternative to conventional paint, providing an essential strong finish, it can be applied to any surface that will not be affected by heat.
Easy to handle and install Heavy Duty Base Beads are available in: 25mm, 30mm, 40mm, 50mm, 60mm, 70mm, 80mm, 90mm, 100mm, 110mm, 120mm, 130mm, 140mm, 150mm, 160mm, 170mm, 180mm, 190mm, 200mm, 210mm, 220mm, 230mm, 240mm and 250mm widths.
Installation:
· Before starting the external wall insulation works, the height of the plinth should be determined and it should be marked with a horizontal line.
· The Heavy Duty Bottom Bead should be installed at a height of approximately 350-400mm from the ground level.
· Heavy Duty Starter Track is fastened to the base with a expansion plug, using at least 10 fixings per 2500mm length.
· The batten should always be fastened in the first and last holes.
· Level the unevenness of the walls with the spacers.
· The end of the Heavy Duty Profiles at the wall corners, where two profiles connect, should be cut at an angle of 45 degrees.
· The Heavy Duty Base Track must be installed perfectly horizontally to facilitate the correct installation of the thermal insulation boards.
· Any deviation from the horizontal will result in gaps between the insulation boards.
Key points:
· Robust polyester powder coating.
· Easily machined and cast.
· Highly durable.
· Less expensive than stainless steel.
· Protection against abrasion and corrosion.
· Good heat conductor.
· High quality.
· Easy to install.
· Can have an indefinite life.

INSTALLERS
No matter whether you choose a local installer or a national company, there’s a few tips to help you find the right installer for your home insulation improvements, such as asking for recommendations and making sure that they’re part of a certification scheme. This makes sure that they have the right skills and standards of workmanship to carry out the installation, and you can be sure that they know exactly what they are doing.
4 TIPS FOR CHOOSING THE BEST INSULATION INSTALLER
1. Thermal inspection picture in portfolio
It’s worth seeing a installer’s previous work. There’s no harm asking if you can see any properties nearby that they’ve installed insulation in. Best way would be to see Infrared Thermal Imaging Inspections. Thermal cameras spot small, but key changes in temperature in different areas of a house, identifying problematic areas that the human eye never could and some that a visual inspection could only hypothesize.
2. Reviews
Along with checking recommendations and previous work, finding reviews online can often be a great way to find out if they provide a good service or not. However, it’s best not to solely rely on reviews you may find or review websites, as there’s no controlling who writes them.
3. Compare prices
Comparing prices will also ensure companies can’t take advantage of you and give you a fair price.
4. Word of Mouth
The best way to find a great insulation installer is through recommendations. Make sure you ask friends and family. They will most likely give you their honest opinion and can tell you from first hand experience.
Whether you require a wall, cladding, external wall, loft or floor insulation fitted, you can find and hire your local insulation installers from popular UK web pages. A simple internet search will return thousands of potential installers near your area.
