145mm Staifix Insofast Insulated Plasterboard Fixing ISF18A (box of 400) is a non-combustible one piece self tapping zinc plated steel fastener designed for Drywall and Insulated Plasterboards within masonry and timber substrates.

Insulated Plasterboard Fixing ISF18A 145mm is a Class A1 Fire-proof mechanical fixing suitable for use with all types of insulated drywall boards (‘Dot and Dab’ adhesively bonded and ‘MF’ Mechanically Fixed).

The Helical shaft minimises heat loss through cold bridging thanks to a thermally-efficient spiral shaft (the cross-sectional area is just 25% that of a solid shaft of equal diameter).

For ‘Dot & Dab’ adhesive bonded insulated plasterboards use 3 anchors per board.

For Mechanical Fix (MF) insulated plasterboards use 12 anchors per board.

Available lengths are: 65mm, 85mm, 105mm, 125mm, 145mm and 170mm.

Key points:

 · Class A1 non-combustible mechanical fixing.

 · Helical shaft minimises heat loss through cold bridging.

 · Countersunk head prevents tearing.

 · Dished head retains filler.

 · Dependable performance.

 · Can be used to replace or to complement ‘dot and dab’ installation.

 · Suitable for fixing into a wide range of construction materials.

 · Fixes panels to lightweight block without pre-drilling.

Installation:

 · The fixings are driven-in by the adaptor powered by a standard light SDS hammer drill (1-2kg with 2-3 joules).

 · Alternatively, these fixings can be installed using a series of light blows from a rubber/plastic mallet.

 · The anchor drives directly into aircrete-blocks and softwood timber.

 · A 5mm pilot hole is recommended for brick, concrete block and hardwood.

 · A 6mm pilot hole is required for structural concrete and engineering brick.

 · The embedment depths stated do not include any surface coverings, such as plaster, over the host material.

 · Longer fixings may be required to achieve the necessary embedment in the backing structure.

 · Manufactured under license of European patent numbers EP1307303 and EP1710372.

INSTALLERS

No matter whether you choose a local installer or a national company, there’s a few tips to help you find the right installer for your home insulation improvements, such as asking for recommendations and making sure that they’re part of a certification scheme. This makes sure that they have the right skills and standards of workmanship to carry out the installation, and you can be sure that they know exactly what they are doing.

4 TIPS FOR CHOOSING THE BEST INSULATION INSTALLER

1. Thermal inspection picture in portfolio

It’s worth seeing a installer’s previous work. There’s no harm asking if you can see any properties nearby that they’ve installed insulation in. Best way would be to see Infrared Thermal Imaging Inspections. Thermal cameras spot small, but key changes in temperature in different areas of a house, identifying problematic areas that the human eye never could and some that a visual inspection could only hypothesize.

2. Reviews

Along with checking recommendations and previous work, finding reviews online can often be a great way to find out if they provide a good service or not. However, it’s best not to solely rely on reviews you may find or review websites, as there’s no controlling who writes them.

3. Compare prices

Comparing prices will also ensure companies can’t take advantage of you and give you a fair price.

4. Word of Mouth

The best way to find a great insulation installer is through recommendations. Make sure you ask friends and family. They will most likely give you their honest opinion and can tell you from first hand experience.

Whether you require a wall, cladding, external wall, loft or floor insulation fitted, you can find and hire your local insulation installers from popular UK web pages. A simple internet search will return thousands of potential installers near your area.
