30mm Rockwool RW6 (140kg) is a rigid class A1 non-combustible resin bonded insulation slab with an excellent fire, thermal and acoustic properties used for a wide range of building applications.
Rockwool RW6 Slab is manufactured in 140kg density per cubic meter (140kg/m3), specially designed for use in floors, roofs at rafter level, partitions, ceilings, timber and steel frame walls.
Stone Wool Insulation Slab if correctly installed exceeds the minimum requirements of the Approved Document E for a Rw 43db, 50dB and 55dB internal wall partition in dwellings.
RW6 (30mm x 600mm x 1200mm ) is an unfaced, odourless, non-hygroscopic stone wool insulation slab with a certified thermal conductivity (lambda value) of 0.035W/mK.
Stone Wool Insulation Slab RW6 is classified as Class ‘0’ to Building Regulations and can be used in ceilings, floors and walls to help sectionalize rooms, reducing fire spread and damage.
RW6 140kg/m3 Slabs work in two distinct ways to reduce noise, either by impeding the transmission of sound through an element of the structure or by absorption of sound at the surface.
The structure of the fibres in RW6 slabs make them ideal for use as a sound absorber with water repellent qualities of the insulation preventing moisture build up, damp and rot.
Rockwool RW6 insulation slabs are made from natural, sustainable and recyclable resources and can be easily cut and shaped with a large bladed knife or saw.
These thermal and acoustic insulation slabs are free of CFCs and HCFCs and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria.
30mm and 120mm thick Rockwool RW6 Slabs are sold only in full pallet quantities and are subjected to extended lead time.

Rockwool RW6 140kg Class A1 Insulation Slab Installation Guidelines:
· Required tools: serrated insulation saw and tape measure.
· Clean and prepare the area for installation.
· Carry out a pre-work safety check, identifying any potential hazards such as ease of access, work heights, trip hazards, and electrical safety.
· Check the construction ensuring it is structurally sound and free from defects such as corrosion, splitting, cracking and look for signs of leaks and moisture which can cause rot and mould.
· Ventilate the area if possible and clear space to hold the insulation, if installing into floors below, or in a loft, use a kneel board and protective knee pads.
· When installing overhead wear protective eyewear.
· If installing into spaces higher up, out of reach, it is recommended this is done from a suitable structure such as scaffolding, rather than a step ladder, so that both hands can be used to safely fit the insulation.
· Assemble tools such as an insulation saw, tape measure and PPE (personal protective equipment) such as gloves, long sleeves, mask and eye protection when working overhead.
· Refer to the EURIMA health and safety guidelines for guidance on suitable PPE.
· Using a tape measure, measure the internal aperture of the frame, rafter or joist you are fitting the insulation into.
· Note that frame centre measurements (i.e. 400mm or 600mm) include the thickness of the stud or joist, and that they may not always be consistent.
· It is best to measure the internal aperture accurately to ensure the best possible fit, particularly when installing into older structures.
· Use an insulation saw, or knife with a serrated blade, for cutting the insulation to size.
· Do not over cut the insulation.
· Allow an extra 10mm on both dimensions (width and length) of the insulation, over and above the aperture dimensions.
· The density and dimensional stability of Rockwool stone wool allows a tight friction fit.
· It will not require pinning or fixings.
· To install, simply push the slab in one side of the structure and let the insulation go so it tightly butts into the other side and holds in place.
· Ensure there are no visible gaps, as this will negatively affect the installed performance.
· To meet fire, acoustic and thermal regulations cavity barriers must be installed at the interface junction between the steel frame party wall with the external cavity wall.
· If in doubt in any area, please call Rockwool prior to commencement of work.
· The mechanical effect of fibres in contact with skin may cause temporary itching.
· When working in an unventilated area, wear a disposable face mask.
· Waste should be disposed of according to local regulations.
· Rinse hands in cold water before washing.
· Ventilate the working area if possible.
· Wear goggles when working overhead.
· Clean area using vacuum equipment.

Alternatively, you can work it out yourself quickly and easily: to get cost per meter square please divide price shown in orange area by ''Required area (m2)'' Example price of £28.80 divided by board coverage 2.88m2 = cost of £10.00 per m2.
INSTALLERS
No matter whether you choose a local installer or a national company, there’s a few tips to help you find the right installer for your home insulation improvements, such as asking for recommendations and making sure that they’re part of a certification scheme. This makes sure that they have the right skills and standards of workmanship to carry out the installation, and you can be sure that they know exactly what they are doing.
4 TIPS FOR CHOOSING THE BEST INSULATION INSTALLER
1. Thermal inspection picture in portfolio
It’s worth seeing a installer’s previous work. There’s no harm asking if you can see any properties nearby that they’ve installed insulation in. Best way would be to see Infrared Thermal Imaging Inspections. Thermal cameras spot small, but key changes in temperature in different areas of a house, identifying problematic areas that the human eye never could and some that a visual inspection could only hypothesize.
2. Reviews
Along with checking recommendations and previous work, finding reviews online can often be a great way to find out if they provide a good service or not. However, it’s best not to solely rely on reviews you may find or review websites, as there’s no controlling who writes them.
3. Compare prices
Comparing prices will also ensure companies can’t take advantage of you and give you a fair price.
4. Word of Mouth
The best way to find a great insulation installer is through recommendations. Make sure you ask friends and family. They will most likely give you their honest opinion and can tell you from first hand experience.
Whether you require a wall, cladding, external wall, loft or floor insulation fitted, you can find and hire your local insulation installers from popular UK web pages. A simple internet search will return thousands of potential installers near your area.
