75mm Stone Wool Insulation Slab Xtratherm SW/RS is a robust high density non-combustible A1 stonewool insulation slab with an improved acoustic performance used for ventilated rainscreen cladding systems in standard and high rise buildings.

The SW/RS range of stone wool insulation provides surety when the highest fire performance is required and resilience during the build process for the application of mechanically fixed substrates.

Xtratherm SW/RS Stone Wool Rainscreen Insulation 75mm is suitable for use in ventilated facade, soffit, rainscreen and framing applications and closed systems such as curtain walling.

Utilising StoneWool in new build and refurbishment projects contributes to reducing the lifetime production of harmful emissions from buildings, minimising heating and cooling demand.

Stonewool Rainscreen insulation has a certified thermal conductivity (lambda value) of 0.035 W/mK.

Xtratherm SW/RS should be installed in accordance with instructions issued by the facade engineer.

Rainscreen Cladding Slabs are available in standard 1200mm x 600mm size with square edge profile.

Xtratherm SW/RS Rainscreen Insulation is CFC and HCFC free and is manufactured using a blowing agent with a low GWP and zero ODP.

SW/RS Stonewool is manufactured from a natural and plentiful resource and is recyclable.

Stone Wool Slabs are lightweight and can be easily cut to any shape with a fine tooth saw or a sharp knife.

Ventilated Rainscreen Cladding Xtratherm SW/RS Installation

 · Xtratherm Stonewool is delivered in packs wrapped in polythene suitable for short term storage in the open.

 · For longer periods of storage packs should be stored off the ground and under cover.

 · The high density panels are robust enough to endure a reasonable length of time exposed during installation, however as with all building processes, protection during the build process should be provided where possible.

 · Breather membranes if specified within the system will provide additional protection.

 · Panels are lightweight and easily cut to any shape with a fine tooth saw or a sharp knife.

 · Neat fitting to adjoining boards and around any penetrations is essential to achieve good thermal performances.

 · Tight abutment with adjoining boards allows for continuity.

 · Boards should be applied in a break-bonded pattern.

 · With all joints tightly butted.

 · Using a combination of metal and polypropylene ‘mushroom’ type fixings with a minimum diameter of 70mm will provide adequate fix until the main cladding system is applied.

 · All penetrations, through the insulation layer, at floor junctions and openings should be accounted for in the thermal calculations.

 · For advice on rainscreen fixings, contact the system specifier, ensuring all fixings are accounted for when modelling thermal performance.

 · Suitable Board Fixing Manufacturers - Hilti, EJOT, Fischer, Rawlplug Fixings and W-M MLN Fixings.

INSTALLERS

No matter whether you choose a local installer or a national company, there’s a few tips to help you find the right installer for your home insulation improvements, such as asking for recommendations and making sure that they’re part of a certification scheme. This makes sure that they have the right skills and standards of workmanship to carry out the installation, and you can be sure that they know exactly what they are doing.

4 TIPS FOR CHOOSING THE BEST INSULATION INSTALLER

1. Thermal inspection picture in portfolio

It’s worth seeing a installer’s previous work. There’s no harm asking if you can see any properties nearby that they’ve installed insulation in. Best way would be to see Infrared Thermal Imaging Inspections. Thermal cameras spot small, but key changes in temperature in different areas of a house, identifying problematic areas that the human eye never could and some that a visual inspection could only hypothesize.

2. Reviews

Along with checking recommendations and previous work, finding reviews online can often be a great way to find out if they provide a good service or not. However, it’s best not to solely rely on reviews you may find or review websites, as there’s no controlling who writes them.

3. Compare prices

Comparing prices will also ensure companies can’t take advantage of you and give you a fair price.

4. Word of Mouth

The best way to find a great insulation installer is through recommendations. Make sure you ask friends and family. They will most likely give you their honest opinion and can tell you from first hand experience.

Whether you require a wall, cladding, external wall, loft or floor insulation fitted, you can find and hire your local insulation installers from popular UK web pages. A simple internet search will return thousands of potential installers near your area.
